In search of the perfect trail

Road Trip to Wales

This weekend I lead a group to Wales. On Saturday we went to Bike Park Wales for the full on down hill experience. With uplifts booked, 8 of us donned body armour and full face helmets (it's pretty rocky in places), and unleashed ourselves on the hill. The group managed about 10 runs with more laughter whoops thrills and one or two spills than you could shake a stick at. It always amazes me how tiring it is "rolling down a hill on a bike".

We spent that evening refuelling and regaling each other with our feats of biking magnificense at Captain Morgan's ancestral Pub in Blackwood, one or two beers were also consumed.

On Sunday it was a 15 minute drive to Cwmcaan trail centre where we enjoyed a more old school cross country loop. nice to get out of the armour and wear a normal xc helmet. The weather was glorious and trails surprisingly dry and very grippy. Cwmcaan is one of my favorite destinations for group rides with a nice mix of technical climbing and blisteringly fast descending.
